Ed Sheeran has promised that he will sing Katie Taylor out if she fights at Croke Park next year.

Taylor's team will now try to secure a fight at GAA Headquarters for the two-weight undisputed world champion after her victory over Chantelle Cameron on Saturday night.

A trilogy fight with Cameron is top of Taylor's wishlist for Croker, while a rematch with Amanda Serrano is another possible option.

And Sheeran, who was in attendance at the 3Arena to watch the Bray Bomber avenge her defeat to Cameron from earlier in the year, told Taylor afterwards that he would sing her to the ring at the Jones' Road venue.

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed: "Ed Sheeran said he would sing her out genuinely."

And Taylor is now desperate to try to finally get a massive Croke Park show to take place.

She said: "It would be amazing – 80,000 people and a most iconic stadium that’s what we have been looking for really over the past year. It has been amazing to fight here in the 3Arena but Croke Park would be iconic."

Sheeran was one of the first people to congratulate Taylor following her victory on Saturday night and spoke to the new two-weight undisputed world champion backstage after the event.

Hearn admits there are plenty of hurdles to overcome to deliver a fight night at Croke Park, but he is hopeful conversations with the Irish government can lead to it happening.

He stated: "We could make a financial case on the tourism and why an event like this would be a huge success for this country. But if they can’t understand the compassionate side of giving this event and night to their greatest ever athlete then I really don’t know what we are doing. But also we are not even asking for favours. All we are asking for is for the cost to be in line with the biggest stadia in the world where we hold boxing.

"We don’t want a free stadium. If they want to give us one that would be marvellous. All we are saying is could be just make it there or there abouts at Wembley, or Millennium Stadium or Dallas Cowboys. Should we just all try and work together ..what a moment that would be. You see that tonight. And that’s only 9,000.

"The difference as I said before about going to Croke Park we could make it more accessible to people. We had to hit numbers on a gate. So we have to draw up a gate plan. It is expensive. The tickets tonight were expensive and not everybody can go.

"Go to the shopping centre (for the public work out) got all generations, eight, nine year olds, you’re got granddads. And when you have got 30 euro tickets or cheaper and ten thousand of them it is going to be a massive celebration for generations in this country and that’s the appeal and I know it would appeal to Katie as well.

"At the end of the day it is great to drive big gate to the 3Arena. Even if is a similar gate with 60,000. To see those people come out would be a visual moment this country would never forget."
