Gardai have seized a gun and €21,000 worth of drugs following a search in southwest Dublin.

On Monday 9 October, Gardai attached to the Ronanstown Drugs Unit within the Lucan District, carried out a search at a location in Ronanstown. During the search they discovered a gun as well as a quantity of ammunition, and illegal drugs like cocaine, cannabis, heroin, and dalamine tablets.

All the drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland to undergo further analysis, and the gun will also undergo further analysis. No arrests have been made.

A Garda spokesman said: " Over the course of this search, Gardai seized over €21,000 in drugs. Diamorphine with an estimated street value of €10,500, cocaine worth €9,170, dalmaine tablets with a value of €1,400 and a small quantity of cannabis was seized.

"A firearm was also seized along with a quantity of ammunition. All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis and the firearm will undergo analysis at the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau.

"No arrests have been made. Investigations ongoing."
