Fans are mourning Shane MacGowan following his passing aged 65.
The Pogues star was renowned internationally for his musical talent. He is survived by his beloved wife Victoria Mary Clarke, who released a fitting tribute to Shane earlier today.
His classic tune 'Fairytale of New York' routinely heralds the start of the festive season in Ireland. Shane co-wrote the famous tune which was released back in 1987.

The duet, featuring the late Kirsty MacColl, tells the tale of two embittered immigrants as Christmas approaches. The tragic love song is regarded as the most famous festive hit to have never peaked at the UK's Christmas No. 1.
The band's biggest hit and a Christmas classic, famously the song was a result of a bet that Shane could not write a Christmas song. Fans reflected on the song in their tributes to Shane on Twitter. Many spoke of their fondness for the star's best-known hit.
One person wrote: "Usually start playing Christmas songs after December 1st. First thing tomorrow morning, A Fairytale in New York is going on."
