There was a lucky escape for workmen yesterday after a crane came crashing down to the ground in the Dublin 15 area.

The incident happened in the Blanchardstown area on Thursday morning. In footage seen by by Dublin Live, the large yellow crane appears to suddenly topple forward, with workers scrambling out of the way.

Sisk, the construction company, has confirmed to Dublin Live that one of the vehicles "overturned" and that no-one was seriously hurt. The crane belonged to a subcontractor and Sisk also confirmed that the HSA was notified.

A Sisk spokesperson told Dublin Live: "The HSA were notified and we are conducting an investigation with all the relevant parties which will be concluded in the coming days.

"Safety is central to how Sisk operates and we are committed to the safety of everyone on our sites and we have a strong track record in this regard.”

A Garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live that they are making enquiries into the incident. She said: "Gardaí are conducting enquiries following reports of a workplace accident in Dublin 15 yesterday morning, Thursday 30th November 2023."
