Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty has debuted his new look ahead of hosting his first ever country music special.

The TV star sported a cowboy hat and chaps with a blazer and looked every bit as ready for the annual hoe down. He captioned the picture: “Ready chaps? #onesleep”, followed by a cowboy emoji.

But details of Friday’s guests were still under wraps last night – as a dip in the chat show’s latest audience numbers were being scrutinised.

In April, Ryan Tubridy hosted his final country music special watched by an average of 557,000 people. It’s hoped the country music special will attract viewers as the show continues to lose thousands of viewers each week since its return last month.

The show got off to an amazing start with an average 830,000. But almost 300,000 fewer people watched the second show and a further 62,000 failed to watch last week.

A spokesman for RTE said: “Friday night’s Late Late Show featuring guests including Mick Lynch, Rob Delaney, Nina Carberry, Carl Frampton, Joe Wicks, and Fig O’Reilly had an average audience of 486,000 a 45% audience share, with a further 48,000 streams.”
